Get started with twenty short pieces in three, 1.5- to 2-hour sessions. We’ll discuss distinctions between the Prose Poem form and the Flash form, with an optional 4th class/workshop. Through an extensive reading list, exercises, and theory, we’ll cover different formal approaches, openings | closings | middles, prose/poetic scansion, white space and the line, compression, surprise and leaping logic, finding the crux, plot and the decisive moment, metaphor, metonymy, and more…
