Three, 1.5- to 2-hour sessions, using examples, theory and exercises on different ways I’ve used theories of the Uncanny and the Sublime in my work—and have seen it used in others’ work. We’ll begin with some working definitions of the contemporary uncanny and the sublime, discuss repression, expression, Piglia’s Secret Story, associative domains, mining the crux of a work, and more, using many examples and with an emphasis on how to use these ideas in your work. With an optional 4th class/workshop.
